HEALTHY HABITS

Nutritional analysis of modern produce demonstrates that the available nutrients and minerals in most all commercial fruits and vegetables are typically up to 90% less than as little as 50 years ago. Naturally, you want to eat in moderation and avoid negative food habits. It's also very important to eat plenty of foods raw- fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts (easy on the nuts) seeds, organic free range meats and eggs... Along with your teas and clean, filtered water, your diet should be mostly composed of these items.

You can eat moderate amounts of clean, organic protein. Note: I DON'T consider grain fed meats to be healthy choices. Organic grass fed, free range is always your best bet!

If you're going to eat grains, which I don't, be very moderate, then always choose 100% organic sources. Most commercial breads have these same additives besides spiking your insulin and being mucus producing...

Drink plenty of fresh, clean, filtered water/tea daily- 8 glasses a day is a good target amount... For sure, get plenty of clean filtered water/tea daily, especially when doing the program.

Now most of us will benefit by sticking to wholesome nutritious eating habits. So what follows are targeted suggestions, useful to consider for transitioning support or further assistance to resolve broader issues.

I don't recommend buying synthetic or man-made vitamin-mineral products, as they don't work with the body. Our metabolism is designed to process natural bioavailable nutrients. Choose organically chelated supplements so the body can assimilate them.

.

There are vast amounts of information, philosophies, controversies, foods, herbs and specialty products out there. If you have ones you use, like and trust, by all means, I'm not necessarily suggesting you leave them behind. The items I suggest are here because I feel they are basics, and relevant to review and consider with you.

You are, of course, welcome to challenge or integrate these thoughts and products into your perspective of what works holistically for you, your needs, the surf conditions, and lifestyle...

Be that as it may, remember these are expected to be wholesomely incorporated into the previously mentioned diet, water, tea, mindset, and such considerations already being in place and implemented.

Special personal circumstances may also determine whether something is or is not a good idea. You may have a specific medical condition to consider. Please allow for this... I can't possibly be expected to anticipate every possible variable out there! Ultimately, it is your responsibility to determine what your behavioral determinants include. So be smart, not stupid or suicidal!

A passing thought, it's a good idea to take occasional mini-vacations from supplements. I usually take my supplements M-F with weekends off. There may be exceptions due to specific reasons. This balances and refreshes the metabolism and promotes vitality and robust immune system.

If you are seeking solutions for 'senior moments', brain fog, dementia, Alzheimer's, and such, you may want to consider these items, providing they are compatible with present medications. First, I'd consider Vinpocetine (Source Naturals), Bacopa Monniera (Nootropics Depot 'Bacognize' Bacopa Monnieri  300 mg 240 capsules), Ginkgo Biloba (Life Extension 120 mg), Huperzine A (NusaPure 300mcg @ Amazon) and Prevagen. I feel that the PD/YM tea could be beneficial (below), as well. Primaforce ' Piracetam' (available at bodybuilding.com 500 grams. for about $20.00). It's smart to use Now sunflower lecithin granules with this as it burns Choline. 1 level tablespoon 3 times/day. Sunflower lecithin is a great supplement to use whatever.

Piracetam is a human-modified form of the amino acid GABA. I have used it and it seems okay, and studies say it is helpful in arresting symptoms of memory dysfunction (loss) in dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. (If the problem is full-blown then, I'd probably give it a try- like for older folk who may be getting to where- 'who they are' is problematical). Phosphatidylserine- 100 mg can be very helpful here as well. Plus the diet, tea, and liquid zeolite...

Another thing here if Alzheimer's is of concern. Many are convinced that heavy metal and particularly aluminum toxicity are at the root of this dreaded phenomena. Zeolite traps these and escorts them from your brain and body. Seems that this may prevent, as well as reverse the symptoms and progression...

Pau D'Arco & Yerba Mate tea (PD/YM tea) simmered together has been shown to promote health. Google. Bring to a gentle simmer, not boiling or bubbling, 8 cups filtered water. Add 5-6 tablespoons of finely chopped Pau D'arco and 2-3 rounded tablespoons of Yerba Mate and gently simmer for 20 minutes. Do not 'boil' and do not microwave! Let steep until cool. Pour through a tea strainer to remove particles into a tea or coffee pot.  

Drink 2-3  glasses a day.  If this is too potent, then merely dilute with filtered water.

I purchase these teas in 1 pound bags at vitacost.com - 'Frontier' Pau D'arco and 'Guayaki' Yerba Mate 2-3 pounds each at a time. I suggest mince/chop/crush the Pau D'arco bark finer to help measure and steep better. Amazon has a reasonable price for the Frontier Pau D'arco but the Guayaki Yerba Mate not so.  You can purchase both these from Vitacost.

I research the products, companies and how best to use them. There are many brands offering these two products. These 2 brands are authentic, properly resourced, harvested, prepared, and packaged. They are very fairly priced at Vitacost vitamins. I can't say that about most all that's out there in the marketplace.This particular preparation derives from the practical wisdom of actual South American practitioners.


Pau D'arco with Yerba Mate is an amazing health boon. Everything from arthritis, candida, detoxification, liver health, ulcers, pain, inflammation, chronic fatigue, to cancer and pain relief from chemotherapy may be ameliorated with this blend!


Please note that when I say 'gently' simmered, I mean that- just barely simmering, the water shouldn't really be bubbling at all- just before that point! Boiling it is too aggressive and makes the tea bitter tasting. You can then simply let steep with the heat off until cool.  Transfer to a glass coffee pot (thrift store- buy 2 to cycle them convieniently), refrigerate and serve chilled.

Drink only one cup at a time and spread the other cups well apart in place of straight filtered water. Do not microwave or boil. Place in a tea or coffeepot, Nalgene water bottle, large (mason) jar with tight lid or refrigerate for storage- it's fine cold or room temperature. You do not need to reheat. If you do so, again, do not microwave or boil. Bring to no more than a simmer or simply hot.

There are other information sites about the benefits of these teas- google 'benefits.' It is an excellent option instead of your morning coffee. The Yerba Mate has a nice amount of caffeine and the tea itself gives you a smooth, not jittery, boost- and the combination tea has excellent health benefits! Again, do not microwave or boil!

If I had or knew someone with cancer, tumors, or practically any challenge, I'd seriously consider using the  tea daily... 2-4 cups per day, I cup at a time spaced out during the day- possibly more if things are very advanced. Still, this is very potent so try to find the best minimum to attain effective relief.

Note: Almost everyone enjoys the taste and effects of this tea yet rarely some people may experience some discomfort with the tea. This formula is potent. Things to watch for are headaches, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, or vomiting. Some of these experiences suggest the tea is too strong so if that seems so then simply dilute with filtered water. Now, this is just being cautious, most will be happy with the basic formula but I wanted to share this suggestion so you're prepared for this possibility and the coping solution.

Note: If going for surgery, discontinue the tea 2 weeks before to avoid possible bleeding issues. The same caution applies to Bacopa, Ginkgo Biloba, Vinpocetine and the beet root powder if you are using those, as they are blood thinners as well, and may interact with the processes involved with the surgical procedure. This caution would also apply if you have 'bleeding' issues for these items as well.

I'd like to suggest dissolving  1/2 tsp 'Bulk Supplements' Potassium Orotate and Taurine in the tea 3 times a day and adding a capsule of 500 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid AM and PM.  These enhance the health benefits dramatically!  You'll probably be glad you did. (Amazon)

Vinpocetine, Bacopa, and Ginkgo Biloba are especially excellent for memory problems and to help compensate for stroke damage. But the same precautions apply if taking Warfarin, anticoagulants, or have bleeding issues. Consult your doctor, pharmacist.

These cautions apply if you are on some medications or blood thinners- as these teas and supplements do effect blood viscosity/biological processes. Consult your doctor and pharmacist regarding this and all other supplements about specific interactions, impacts, considerations, and necessary adjustments that might apply. It's possible you may reduce the strength of the tea, or simply reduce the number of doses of these natural supplements. Eventually, maybe your prescription needs will lessen.

Please consider this! Now Natural E-400 (250 softgel size)- always get a natural E complex, not just the alpha form. I now take 3  400 IU with my AM supplements. It is probably one of the most important things you can do to powerfully enhance your overall health!

If you're eating some Quality Organic Grass Fed Beef, then that's a rich source of natural CoQ10. Commercial/grain/hormone fed beef has very little. Otherwise, I choose a 100 mg of the more biologically absorbable form of CoQ10 called Ubiquinol. There are several at Amazon such as 'Qunol,' the one I use- 1 in the AM. This is very important if you are on 'statins' for high cholesterol. There are much better natural remedies than statins which can have serious complications I've noted. My program should help this out over time.

There are many issues around using salt. Commercial, 'man-made' sodium chloride is toxic. Natural sea salts are composed of a variety of naturally occurring mineral salts all in correct biological proportion. These salts are compatible with your body's normal healthy saline pH factors. They are healthy for typical moderate use in place of commercial 'salt.' Personally, as I wrote on the home page, I use Himalayan Chrystal (sherpa/pink) sea salt. Actually "Sherpa Pink" @ Amazon. Like I explain, this is a controversial matter that modern medical resources probably will have a 'knee-jerk" reaction to. It's your choice. Discuss it with your health care person. I'll put the promotion out there...

Once again, I find that the best product is extra fine, Himalayan Crystal Sea Salt. It's expensive if purchased commercially. I buy 5 pound extra fine "Sherpa Pink" bags from Amazon and use in my Navage nasal cleaning device as well.

If you aren't avoiding all artificial sweeteners by now, then you really must read all the warnings on Google until they register. As far as I am concerned the stuff should never have been permitted into the marketplace. They are 'excitotoxins' and wreak havoc in your body. Add that to carbonated beverages, and you have a great way to make your body acidic, which is when it becomes open to many degenerative conditions.

This is another reason why it's important to eat lots of raw veggies, to encourage the body to have an alkaline pH in the blood and lymphatic system.

After withdrawing for a while, you'll find that other flavors and tastes improve and replace the addictions. But, if you can't help yourself with sweets, at least get into stevia or xylitol. Start to wean the body today. It really is an addiction, a physical craving.

Here's another public interest message. Evidently, there are citizen's having some kind of digestion disorder called 'Heartburn.' Could it be they're just plumb eating wrong? I'd expect, if one engages my recommendations, that would resolve. At least, before I resorted to Tums or some extreme and questionable prescription for relief, one might try a couple of caps of Ginger about 5-10 minutes before dining, with a moderate amount of water. Ginger's an excellent herb for many issues, even joint aches. For the stomach rebellion, maybe right after eating, have a tablespoon of organic raw apple cider vinegar. Some people report that these bring relief. The vinegar is excellent with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, some Himalayan Crystal Sea Salt, pepper/spices to taste, for salad dressings...

Some thoughts to consider. Men, do you suffer from "jock itch?" Just kidding... But, what you use for grooming and such deserves some attention. They can impact your overall health aims. Hence, even here, have a care and strive to be organic. Most commercial products have some pretty nasty substances in them. You want to avoid them- they can migrate right through your skin and harm you. So consider items like 7th Generation laundry soap and organic raw vinegar for a deodorant and Tom's toothpaste.

I'd like to introduce you to a great, though somewhat unusual, health tip. The saline (sea salt) nasal rinse. You can purchase 'neti pots' commercially. These days I'm impressed with my new device called the "Navage" system ( navage.com ). My only complaint was that it comes with a disposable 'salt pod' you have to use and they are expensive. Fortunately, I found a way to bypass this on youtube.com . Go to the site enter 'navage salt pack hack'. Then select the ones listed there titled 'navage hack' and 'Navage Hack + Saline Recipe' The solution is clear and straightforward on the first and the second includes information there if you have specific nasal rinse saline considerations.  Read on.

If you just want an effective rinse protocol and no other 'issues' are salient, plan on using 8 ozs. warm ( not hot or cold) water starting with 1/2 < 1+ teaspoon of Himalayan Crystal Salt dissolved and use that way. (Put in a jar and shake until salt dissolves completely.) When pouring the salt water into the unit be careful not to allow any undissolved salt to enter. If you are new to this I would start with 1/2 teaspoon of the salt and work up. I'm now able to use about 1 1/2 tsp. The salt dissolves and loosens the mucus in your sinus cavity so it can flush out. You'll be surprised at the texture and amount of this crud that has been hiding there.

After the first rinse, I turn the nosepiece around so the water goes in and out in the opposite direction to do a more thorough rinse. Doesn't take but a few minutes. Fill the top tank with Hot water and flush the water out the nasal outlets and rinse the top of the unit and tanks.

.

To completely clear the sinuses after I use the Navage, I lean forward over the sink and tilt my head one side, use a finger or thumb to close first one nostril then the other. As you close each nostril, being careful to cup the nose to catch the spray, blow out lightly to forcefully. Repeat this 3-5 times or more. Switch to leaning the head to the other side and repeat. Let some time pass and repeat this process as the residual saline will still be loosening the mucus. You will be surprised when, sometimes, gobs of slimy loosened greenish gunk is expelled by doing this additional action. What's scary is that some of this crud has probably been in there for years and you didn't even know it!

Listen to the youtube clip and advice, and read the reviews at Amazon. The units at Amazon have a lot of those pods and added expense. I'd go to the site, navage.com , and buy the cheapest one because with the pod hack remedy you won't be hooked into buying their expensive pods- though you need one to make the 'fix' and a few others in case.

You will find that by rinsing your nasal cavities daily, your sinuses open up and you breathe easier and freer. There are also terrific health benefits. Typical colds and cases of flu seem to become things of the past, as these most often gestate in this area.

It's an excellent idea to use a high-quality shower filter to remove chlorine and other contaminants. You probably don't realize how much chlorine gas is released and how much this product can benefit you. Breathing the chlorine gas vapors and exposing your skin to typical 'tap' water is not desirable. There are many competing models out there. I prefer Dr. Mercola's for about $95.00- the replacement filters are about $55.  ( mercola.com ) I'm using one currently.

If you are able, enjoy the benefits of a good walk in nature or a park. Maybe all you can get to is a mini-break at work. Simply, let go, breath slowly and deeply. Anchor your breathing in your lower belly. Allow the chest to fill and contract fully, naturally. Hold your head up as though suspended by a thin silken thread that is gently pulling toward the sky. Breath deeply from just below the belly button. Allow the weight to fall from your shoulders and upper back, the shoulders drop the chest lifts. If walking, just let the arms swing loosely. Your spine is upheld nice and straight by the 'thread' that lifts your head.

Just let all your bones and muscles drop and connect back into the earth so that all your stress and tensions drain away.

Be grateful... To make an important point here. When you walk do your feet point directly forward or splay off to the sides? If they splay, this is not a good habit and means you are not walking correctly. The feet should point straight forward for proper posture and bone alignment. You'll walk better and avoid probable knee, hip, and lower back issues down the road.

Many years ago I noticed this in myself when I read some information on this phenomena. So I figured out a quick and effective remedy- though at first for a while it does feel peculiar. Yet I do recommend it and you'll find that in a relatively short period, the feet correct. All you have to do is whenever you walk or 'go for a walk,' point your feet slightly inward. What used to be called 'pigeon-toed.'  You'll soon be walking correctly and won't even have to think about it.

Now even if it's just a mini-break during other activities try and give yourself a good nine or more deep breaths. Let go- release your stress. Strive to let these moments refresh you and your body as you continue moving through your day. Notice the difference between being physically relaxed rather than uptight.

The breath is very powerful- use it to center and balance your self.

Now a problem many of us have is that we tend to "live in our minds," most of our awareness stuck in the frontal lobes (forehead) where thinking and problem solving goes on. By getting our awareness back into the rest of the body, that constant mental chatter, thinking, thinking and more thinking, should surrender and give you some peace of mind and clarity.

.

We tend to keep too much energy in our brains, being 'cerebral' all the time. This keeps the body from getting its fair share. A way to compensate is to imagine that you are breathing from the soles of your feet while you observe your chest expand and contract. Place your awareness there for a while, as you perform this sitting or walking meditation. This will help disperse the subtle energy more evenly throughout your entire body.

And that is an excellent thing.

Try and get some sun exposure daily, at least 15-20 minutes. It's super good for you and lets the body generate plenty of that essential vitamin D. If you can't get some daily sun exposure, I think you may want to consider a good vitamin D3 'THREE' supplement. Here where I live in the Northwest, the winters can be pretty gray and inhospitable for weeks on end. So typically, I take 4,000 IUs in the AM. I'd consider 2,000 IUs a minimum starting point to discuss with your healthcare person.

Naturally, I recommend against eating any 'processed' foods. Look at the label- what are those chemicals? Certainly, not a 'Food Group!' Avoiding them, white flour, sugar, commercial salt, and any carbonated beverages is a good basic notion...


Occasionally, I like to have a large bowl of homemade coleslaw often, too, with fresh raw cabbage, tomato, carrot, walnuts, and raisins! Organic Mayo/vinegar dressing. A super way to get fiber and fortify the body.


It may seem kind of indelicate to some but, I'm a fan of the coffee enema.  At least once weekly to daily if you are able at first. You may think this insane but, I wouldn't mention it if it wasn't something to know about. However, I don't want to spend a lot of time on the subject here so, google it. There's plenty about it and why it's so beneficial to flush the liver-gallbladder... I just use a 1 1/ 2 qt. enema bag (hot water bottle type). And then 4 Tbsp. fresh ground organic roast coffee ( I recommend purelifeenema.com coffee) to the 5 cups filtered water.  (When you become familiar with this and are ready you may wish to start using a special 'enema' coffee such as "Ultra Light Air Roast" available at purelifeenema.com.  It's more expensive but is composed of coffee beans processed to maximize the detoxification response). Bring water coffee to a light boil for 5 minutes. Reduce to simmer and cover for about 15 minutes in a stainless steel pan or glass pot. Let cool for about an hour until 'tepid,' i.e., body temperature (lukewarm).  Strain the coffee through a stainless steel kitchen strainer to remove the grounds and fill the bag. Add 5-10 drops Artizen Tangerine essential oil (Amazon) to enhance the effectiveness. You can find the instructions on the Internet. It's all pretty straightforward. Use some olive oil or petroleum gel on insertion nozzle. Slowly let it fill your bowel, stopping the flow if needed using the clamp until all the fluid is injected. Try to hold it in for 12-15 minutes. Lay on your right side on a pad with a large sheet of plastic and be close to the toilet!


After about 10 minutes, try and switch to lying on your back for another 5 minutes or so, as this helps take

the pressure off the chest, allowing the gallbladder to empty.


After about 12 minutes you may hear/feel a 'gurgle' under your breastbone. That's the gallbladder "flush" part, and that IS a very good thing. After the 15 minutes sit on the toilet and empty the bowel. It'll be pretty gross, but that's what was there.


If you're a beginner it helps to release the coffee from the enema bag slowly, stopping briefly, until you feel comfortable, then adding more until all the fluid is retained. 

I recommend that 15 minutes before the coffee enema that you take 2-3 capsules of 'Purest Vantage' Activated Charcoal.  This will neutralize the concentrated toxins flushed into the intestines with the bile and prevent the body from reabsorbing the toxins as they exit.

Do in the morning before eating, on a day off and you don't be havin' to rush off to the job. You might have extra fluid after so stay close to the toilet. Otherwise, be prepared for a leak or 'accident.' As you get used to it you'll find that leaks are a rare thing or not a problem.

.

Also, it's a good idea, while waiting for the coffee to cool, to do a clear warm water pre-enema first to facilitate an evacuation and remove the waste matter, even if you've already had a regular morning movement. Adding 1 Tbsp of Himalayan Pink salt dissolved in the 5 cups of clear lukewarm filtered water makes the entire process even more efficient and effective.

You will probably notice that afterward, you feel really terrific like you are floating... 

and the more often you do this the better overall you'll feel!
